Dia De Los Muertos Fun

The kids have spent all week working on centers.  Some had Dia De Los Muertos Skulls, some pumpkins, some "how to draws" and of course play-doh centers.  The Dia De Los Muertos Skulls turned out awesome.  I almost don't regret letting the students work with glitter glue since the results were outstanding!  It would be so much better if I had a sink.  Happy Halloween Y'all!

Drawing Stella

Stella had her spay surgery today. I was worried about her all morning long. Since I was missing a large portion of my second grade class today I decided we would do a guided drawing of Stella. The kids love guided drawings and totally love Stella, her picture at least. Here's some of the drawings they did. I only had my camera phone with me so they're not the best images.

Stella's home and sound asleep. She's not too fond of the cone and keeps running into things. After a few days of TLC she'll be back to her destructive self I'm sure.

Say Whaaaaaa?

This is Stella's reaction after I told her she was going to get spayed, have her baby teeth pulled and micro chipped on Friday. She was also upset that she'd be staying there by herself on Thursday night. She's not too happy with me. Poor puppy. She's going to need some TLC come Friday night. Poor Stella.

Fabric Addiction

I went shopping for some fabric for a quilt that I will soon be making. I've been wanting to learn how to quilt for a couple of years now and finally found someone who has the patience to work with me. I'm a very slow and unsure learner. She's great with me and she knows her stuff.

Let me tell you when I walked into Cabbage Rose I was so overwhelmed by the choices that I almost bolted for the door, ha ha get it? bolt? I'd grab a bolt of fabric that I liked, put it back, grab another, put it back...well, you get the picture. 45 minutes later I finally found some cool stuff that fit my budget and made my way to the counter. As I got to the counter I realized I'd missed a whole section of fabrics...almost put the stuff down to spend more of my time looking but fought the urge. I could totally see myself becoming a fabric addict. There are so many cool prints out there, such wonderful eye candy. How can I ignore all the beauty that surrounds me? I want to take it all home and make millions of little quilts.

Anyway, in my attempt to stay creative I am taking on quilting. I hope I learn how to work my sewing machine soon. I'm kind of frightened by it. We shall see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Missing Ollie

I miss my little Oliver Odel. I keep looking at the pillows on which he slept and he's not there. When I let Abbey and Stella out I catch myself looking for Ollie to let him out as well. The other night I thought I heard him sneeze and I almost blessed him, then I realized he's gone. It sucks.

I feel really horrible that I wasn't there to be with him when he was put to sleep. I just couldn't do it. In a perfect world I would have taken him on a walk, fed him a hamburger, loved on him. But then I think, he wasn't able to walk, he hardly ate, and he hated being loved on. That and I would have cried the whole time. Knowing that he was old and it was his time doesn't make losing him any easier to take. I wish we could all live forever. I miss you little OO. I hope you're happy where you are now. We love you.

Goodbye Little Ollie

He almost made it to 16. He was our little old man. He will be greatly missed. We love you little Ollie. I hope your chasing butterflies in a beautiful field of green grass up in doggie heaven.
