Cowboy Boot Lines (1st & 2nd Grade)

This was super fun! I think everyone enjoyed this lesson...maybe it's because we're Texan and cowboy boots rule the roost, or maybe because lines are so awesome. Who knows, but I do know that the kids had fun, made art and learned about lines.

We started by talking about line as an element of art. Then we discussed the different types of lines and practiced drawing them. I then passed out a template of a boot and had the students trace them on their paper. Then they filled the inside of the boot with different types of lines. Next we drew the background and added things that can be found in the desert...lizards, saguaro cacti, snakes.

For 1st grade they outlined their pencil lines with markers and colored the inside with crayons.

For 2nd grade they used all markers.

These boots are fantastic! Such a good job!!
