My Apologies

I am so sorry but I have not been able to blog lately, things have been crazy insane at school. My new art room was not ready at the beginning of the school year as they promised. I had to move my room, organize it, clean it and now I'm decorating. On top of that we've had to hire new teachers, re-organize students, figure out who is in our classes and who isn't...we're still trying to figure that one out. It's the 7th week of school and I'm just now getting seating charts figured out and today I just finished my grade book! My to do list is HUGE! So I thought I'd take a few minutes to update you guys and let you know I am still alive and teaching art!

This was the first week of having classes in my new room, and let me tell you what a difference it has made. No longer am I cramped in a tiny half portable with 30+ students. We have enough seats and tables for everyone! It was awesome watching the kids expressions when they walked in for the first time. I got a lot of hugs and high fives, some students even congratulated me. God love them. They are so happy. It's even made a difference in behavior issues. They seem to be content, they no longer fight over their space...since they have some now. I think this is going to be a great year...once we get used to the rules and procedures and the space. I'm really happy. I had no idea it would be so wonderful. I have no idea how I survived in such a tiny place...how we survived. The kids deserve this, a space of their own, an inviting and warm environment in order to create in, and a happy art teacher. I'll post photos next week when I remember to bring my camera! I want you to see how awesome a space we have.

On the dog front, I'm proud to announce that my little feisty terrier mix Stella has passed her Therapy Dog International test. We're sending in her paperwork on Wednesday. I hope by the end of October she'll be helping our kids learn how to read. We've worked really hard getting her ready. I know she'll do great, and how awesome is it to have your dog go to school with you?

I guess I'll get back to work. I've a ton of flip charts to make. Hope you all are having a great school year!

Here's Stella in her Halloween Costume!
