Calaveras (4th grade)

I found this idea on pinterest and tweaked it a little.  It originally was a mask of a calavera created on paper plates and then glued to a Popsicle stick.  I needed something for a Fall PTA night so I thought adding fabric and other textures would be a nice touch.  We traced a calavera shape onto a paper plate and cut it out.

Then students drew their calaveras with lots of lines, shapes, and patterns.

The next step is to color with markers and glue onto a 9 X 12 black piece of construction paper.

The students then added a border with construction paper and strips of fabric.  They also drew patterns in the background with metallic markers and glued sequins on as a finishing touch.
They really loved this lesson, I highly recommend it!
