Winter Landscapes (2nd Grade)

Here are some amazing 2nd grade Winter Landscape Collages.  First students used a wax resist to make their backgrounds.  They drew two hills with two different crayons, then created a wash of colors using water colors.
While their backgrounds were drying, students used different sized triangle templates to trace their trees.  They glued tissue paper squares of different colors to their trees, then cut them out.  They glued their trees to their watercolor backgrounds keeping in mind that the smallest trees go in the background and the largest tree goes in the foreground.  They added a trunk and branches to their trees using construction paper crayons.
The last step was to add the snowflakes by gluing hole punched papers to their landscapes.  It took students three 45 minute classes to complete this lesson.  I think they did a great job!  Way to go 2nd grade!!
